You may be aware that David Carmichael, who was a major
contributor to the club and county bridge over many years, passed away in
August following a long and courageous battle with cancer.
As a tribute to David, Cambridge Bridge Club will be running an online tournament on Saturday October 31st, and the winning pair will be awarded the “Carmichael Cup”, a new trophy to be donated by David’s friends. The tournament will be a 24 board pairs match, starting at 1030am, with 12 boards in the morning, a one hour lunch break, and then 12 boards in the afternoon finishing at approx. 2.30pm. We will run the tournament on Bridgebase Online with a fee of 6 BBO$ per player. Any profit will be donated to David’s preferred charity, The Arthur Rank Hospice. The normal Saturday morning BBO game will not take place that day, so we hope you will be able to join the tournament and honour David’s memory and support the charity. More details will be available nearer the time, but if you think you will be able to join please reply to vic.morris@icloud.com with your BBO ID and that of your partner. No commitment at this stage but will help us to plan for what we hope will be a very successful inaugural event. |
