The following has been agreed both Cambridge Bridge Club and Cambridge Friday Bridge Club as the rules for our new competition - the Cambridge Bridge Cup.

The Cambridge Bridge Cup Rules

The Cambridge Bridge Cup has been organised jointly by CBC and CFBC to encourage their respective members to try the other club.

The competition is running from the beginning of May to the end of August 2015. During this time members of either club can play any number of times at the other without having to become a member and only paying the standard table money of £2.50 a session. This applies to CBC sessions on Monday mornings, Tuesday evenings and Wednesday evenings; and to CFBC sessions on Friday evenings.

To qualify for the competition, you have to play at least 3 times at the Cambridge Friday Bridge Club and at least 3 times at the Cambridge Bridge Club from the beginning of May to the end of August. The winner will be the individual who has the highest average % match points for their best 3 sessions at each club. Scores on Jacobs Pairs evenings at CBC (which are scored by cross-IMPS) will be converted to notional % match points by the formula used by the EBU in the National Grading Scheme viz. %MP = 50% + 6.48% x imps-per-board.

You don’t have to play with the same partner in both clubs and you can play with as many different partners as you want. There is an intended bias in favour of members who play more often – they are better able to have their poor scores drop out.
